What do Dokploy and Coolify have in common?

Dokploy and Coolify both deploy containerised applications from Git repositories, Dockerfiles, images, and Docker Compose. Their dashboards cover configuration, domains, certificates, logs, storage, databases, previews, and deployments.

Self-hosting either product leaves your team responsible for the servers, networking, security, upgrades, backups, and recovery. Their Cloud products manage the control plane, while applications and databases continue to run on servers you supply.

What are the main differences between Dokploy and Coolify?

The main differences are multi-server scaling, build options, database coverage, backups, and team controls.

Deployment architecture and scaling

Dokploy can run the control plane and workloads on one server, deploy to independent remote servers over SSH, or replicate applications across Docker Swarm nodes. Swarm requires compatible node architectures, a shared registry, and cluster operations.

Coolify offers experimental multi-server and Docker Swarm features. Its multi-server workflow deploys one image to matching standalone servers, but your team configures the external load balancer. Both products therefore add registry, networking, storage, and recovery work as deployments expand beyond one server.

Application delivery and developer workflow

Both platforms deploy from Git, Dockerfiles, Compose definitions, and container images, support pull-request previews, and can move builds to dedicated servers. Dokploy also offers Nixpacks, Railpack, Heroku and Paketo buildpacks, and static builds; its remote build servers exclude Compose deployments. Coolify offers Nixpacks and Railpack in beta for Git-based deployments, plus one-click service templates.

Dokploy uses Traefik, while Coolify defaults to Traefik and offers Caddy experimentally. Both provide APIs and scheduled commands. Dokploy jobs can target applications, Compose containers, remote hosts, or the Dokploy container, while Coolify tasks target resources or servers.

Databases, persistence, and backups

Coolify offers eight one-click database engines, compared with five on Dokploy. These are self-operated containers rather than managed database services.

Coolify schedules backups for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB, with S3-compatible storage available; ClickHouse uses a separate S3 procedure. Its control-plane backup excludes application volumes. Dokploy schedules database and Docker named-volume backups, but not bind-mount backups. Either way, your team owns retention, failure monitoring, and restore testing.

Teams and enterprise controls

Coolify provides Owner, Admin, and mostly read-only Member roles. Dokploy Self-Hosted OSS and Cloud also include basic roles, while Cloud plan limits determine user and organisation allowances.

Dokploy Enterprise Self-Hosted and Enterprise Cloud add custom roles, OIDC or SAML SSO, SCIM, and audit logs. How does Dokploy vs Coolify pricing work?
