Configure and manage Cloud Harnesses

You can expose applications running in your Cloud Harness by adding public or private ports. You can also attach domains to publicly exposed ports.

To configure a port:

1. Open your Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Networking icon in the right sidebar.
3. Click Add port.
4. Enter the port and select the protocol.
5. Enable Publicly expose if you want the port to be accessible from the internet.
6. Click Save changes.

You can add multiple ports to a Cloud Harness.

Set runtime variables and secret files that your Cloud Harness can access.

1. Open your Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Environment icon in the right sidebar.
3. Click Edit.
4. Add or update your variables or secret files.
5. Click Update & restart.

You can update an existing Cloud Harness's authentication, runtime image, and resources. With workspace persistence enabled, you can increase storage size. You cannot reduce its size or change persistence after creation.

To update your Cloud Harness:

1. Open the Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Options icon in the right sidebar.
3. Update the configuration you want to change.
4. Click Update options.

Pausing a Cloud Harness scales it to zero and stops its terminal sessions and processes. With workspace persistence enabled, files in /home/harness remain available when you resume it.

To pause a Cloud Harness:

1. Open the Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Pause harness icon in the top-right corner.
3. Wait for the Cloud Harness to pause.

To resume a Cloud Harness:

1. Open the Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Resume harness icon in the top-right corner.
3. Wait for the Cloud Harness to start.

You can monitor the resource usage of your Cloud Harness from the Observe section.

To view your Cloud Harness metrics:

1. Open the Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the Observe icon in the right sidebar.

You can view metrics such as CPU and memory usage to monitor your Cloud Harness.

You can permanently delete a Cloud Harness and its associated workspace.

To delete a Cloud Harness:

1. Open the Cloud Harness overview.
2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
3. Click Delete harness.
4. Confirm the deletion.

With Team privacy, team members with the required permissions can connect to the Cloud Harness. With Private privacy, only its creator can access the workspace.

Your team must allow private harnesses before you can select Private. You cannot change privacy after creation.

Private harnesses use the in-app terminal. Northflank SSH and port forwarding are unavailable, including for the creator.

When you create a Cloud Harness, open Advanced → Privacy to select its privacy.

Private harnesses remain visible to your team, including their name, creator, source repository, and allocated resources. Team members with the required permissions can still pause, resume, or delete them. Privacy does not make application ports private. Configure networking separately.

You need permission to update harness policies in your team. By default, all harness types are allowed and private harnesses are disabled.

1. Open Configuration → Harness policies in your team.
2. Select the harness types that team members can create.
3. To allow private workspaces, enable Allow private harnesses.
4. Click Save changes.

The policy applies when you create a harness or change its agent type. Existing harnesses keep running. Disabling private harnesses prevents new private harnesses but does not change existing ones.
